2017 Honda Ridgeline release date, specs: important tweaks to the design, vehicle launching this month

2017 Honda Ridgeline Honda

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline comes with a few quirky designs that might not appeal to hardcore truck drivers and enthusiasts but they do make for a more streamlined vehicle. As stated in a report from CNET, the 2017 Ridgeline, launching this month, is a unibody pickup truck that features a unique dual-action tailgate and a built-in in-bed trunk.

The tailgate can be swung open and it can also be lowered like a traditional pick-up truck. According to the report, this makes it an ideal choice for everyday drivers due to its versatility and level of convenience. It also helps that the overall design of the truck has been altered to resemble a more traditional pickup than previous models.

Powering the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is a 3.5-liter V6 engine capable of pushing up to 280 HP and 262 foot-pound of torque. As stated in the report, this is the same engine that powers the 2016 Pilot SUV. However, despite having similar powertrains the Ridgeline utilizes it with a different system, leading to a different driving experience.

It comes with only one transmission option, a six-speed automatic, and power can be diverted either to a front-wheel system or an all-wheel system using the on-demand all-wheel system that makes use of Intelligent Terrain Management software.

According to a report from Consumer Report, the independent suspensions that are built into the truck to support the in-bed trunk also make for a more comfortable ride. The report points out that this makes the Ridgeline drive more akin to a conventional SUV, which makes it cater to a wider range of consumers and drivers.

In regards to pricing, the base model with 2WD starts at $29,475 and this increases with another $1,800 for the AWD option. There is a black limited edition that can cost up to $42,870 when all of the accessories and options have been added to the vehicle, making for a powerful and luxurious pickup truck.
