2016 Chevrolet Camaro prices: car specs and features

2016 Chevrolet Camaro Chevrolet

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will not be made available until later this year but a report from Motor Authority has revealed the suggested retail prices for the car and its various versions when it hits dealer lots.

According to the report, the most basic, entry-level version will cost roughly $26,700 along with a $995 destination charge. This price tag is solely for the 1LT trim of the vehicle that comes packed with a turbocharged 2-liter 4-cylinder engine which rates up to 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. At this rate the vehicle is nearly $2,000 more expensive than last year's 1LT model of the Camaro.

Upgrading to a V-6 will cost an estimated $28,190 including destination charges. This information was first revealed in a report from Cars Direct and this makes the 2016 Camaro a more expensive V-6 vehicle compared to its competitors such as the Ford Mustang and the Chrysler Dodge Charger.

The additional cost does come with additional power. According to Motor Authority, the V-6 Camaro will have up to 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque compared to the Mustang's 300 horsepower and the Charger's 305 horsepower capabilities.

Upgrading to the V-8 Camaro SS will cost up to $37,295 inclusive of the $995 destination charge. This trim will feature a 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine capable of powering up to 455 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. This is the same engine utilized by the Corvette.

The Camaro will come in 4 major trims: the 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS. Driver Mode Selector, leather-wrapped steering wheel, a large display screen, 8-direction adjustable driver's seat and 6-direction for the passenger seat, 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot support, reversing camera and push button start are all accessible even in the lowest trim.

2015 will only see the coupe as the convertible variant won't be hitting dealer lots until early 2016, according to Motor Authority. They will come with turbo 4 as an available option.
