2015 Mac mini specs: faster and more powerful features?

Even though Apple took the wraps off the Mac mini only in October, there are already reports that a new model will be released next year with more powerful specs and features. An updated Mac mini is meant for Apple fans that may be disappointed with the current model of the device.

According to TekRevue, Apple was pressured to release an updated Mac mini this year because it has been two years since the company updated the line. However, the updated device is quite a disappointment as it is reported that the new version has slower processing performance than its predecessor.

Despite its slower performance, the new Mac mini has better graphics, improved connectivity, and is more energy efficient.

The entry level Mac mini received an update on the processor and packs the new Intel CPU or the fourth-gen 1.4 GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of memory, a 500 GB 5,400 rpm hard drive and Intel HD Graphics 5000. This only costs $499.

The $699 Mac mini is equipped with 2.6 GHz dual-core Core i5, while the $999 model is equipped with 2.8 GHz dual-core Core i5. Both models include an 8 GB memory, 256 GB, 512 GB or 1TB solid-state drive, and Intel Iris Graphics. Both models can be upgraded to 3 GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor and 16 GB internal memory. At the back, the device comes with Thunderbolt port, Mini DisplayPort output, and the faster Wi-Fi 802.11ac.

The Mac mini is popular among Apple fans as it is a small and compact computer. It is also unobtrusive and user-friendly. It works like other MacBook or iMac as it runs with the same OS X Yosemite operating system and has its own onboard storage for videos and apps.

However, Apple has not confirmed the rumors that it will release a new Mac mini next year.
