Microsoft is obviously hell-bent on bringing back nostalgia goodness on its latest console, the Xbox One. One strong point that perfectly defines that agenda is its backwards compatibility program -- which first made its debut in 2015.

In another timely display of its noble cause, the tech giant is bringing its loyal following three new 360 titles from the not-so-distant past.

Joining the over 400 games currently listed in its backward compatibility is the critically applauded sci-fi, action game, and third-person shooter -- "Vanquish" (2007). Another one is the femme fatale, adventure game turned movie franchise "Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" (2010). Lastly, accompanying both impressive titles is the video game adaptation of the blockbuster animated movie collaboration between Disney and Pixar -- "Brave" (2012).

In line with the usual process, players who own a physical copy of the game can immediately play the title by just popping it inside the console. Meanwhile, for those who own a digital version, the title will automatically be made available in the Ready to Download section inside the My Apps and Games category of the account.

To give you a gist of the past titles, here is a summary and some background information about the games.

"Vanquish" takes place at a distant future aboard a futuristic spaceship where nations fight each other to get their hands on the planet's dwindling resources. The third person-shooter is another brainchild of Shinji Mikami -- the mastermind behind the "Resident Evil" series.

"Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light" is an action, adventure game starring "Tomb Raider's" Lara Croft -- who teams up with a Mayan warrior named Totec to defeat an evil foe who threatens humanity. It is a game that largely relies on co-op gameplay and was originally released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

And "Brave" -- the video game adaptation of Disney's animated movie of the same name. It follows Merida, a European princess who is on a quest and a race against time to find the cure for her mother's curse.

The past weeks, Microsoft has been dropping game titles to the backwards compatible lineup like it is nothing. Just last week, it released "Mafia II" and "Prey," two classic platformers in the previous iteration of the Xbox console, into the continually growing roster of old generation games made available for the Xbox One.
