'Toy Story 4' release date, plot news: To focus on Buzz and Jessie's relationship

It was previously reported that "Toy Story 4" would focus on the romantic relationship between Woody (Tom Hanks) and Bo Peep (Annie Potts), with the latter now missing. However, a report from MNR Daily points out that the story will also delve into the relationship between Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) and Jessie (Joan Cuasack).

As the report points out, Buzz and Jessie's love story sparked the moment the two first met back in "Toy Story 2." Throughout the film, Buzz -- even when re-programmed to speak in a different language -- tried to impress Jessie, and by the end of "Toy Story 3" the two were dancing as a pair, hinting that they had officially become a romantic couple.

This focus on Buzz and Jessie's romantic relationship is speculated to be the driving cause for Woody to set out and find Bo Peep, a character he has been romantically involved with since the first film. On numerous occasions Bo Peep reeled Woody in using her walking staff to give him several kisses on the face, indicating that they were indeed a couple.

Last year, Pixar's John Lasseter explained that "Toy Story 4" is primarily a love story, a stark contrast to the adventures of past films. Many fans consider the first film about Buzz and Woody's friendship, the second film about family and home, and the third film about growing up.

Bo Peep was not present in "Toy Story 3," and it is widely speculated that she was sold off by Andy (John Morris) or his mom, Mrs. Davis (Laurie Metcalf) between the events of the second and third films given that "Toy Story 4" will be about Buzz and Woody setting out to save her.

Very little else is confirmed at this point regarding "Toy Story 4," but the film is expected to premiere on June 15 2018.
