"Steven Universe" season 4 will be back next week with a brand new episode, "Three Gems and A Baby," which was glimpsed in a Christmas–themed trailer released by Cartoon Network.
The clip showed previews of the holiday episodes airing next month, including "Steven Universe" season 4 episode 9, which will hark back to the first time Greg and Steven spent winter time together.
At some point in the preview, Steven was shown as a baby being held by Greg, who looks like he is still getting himself familiar with all his parental duties, which were all new to him by that time.
An extended version of the trailer that was leaked online recently teases that the upcoming episode will see Steven celebrate Christmas with Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst, and Greg.
As they gather around the fireplace, Greg will sing them a song titled "I Could Never Be Ready," which was teased at the New York Comic-Con (NYCC) and is rumored to be about Greg's struggles in taking the responsibility of raising Steven alone.
The trailer also teases that the gems will bring some presents, but they will end up stealing the van, leaving Greg behind. The teaser shows that it will be stuck in the snow.
Interestingly, baby Steven appears to be in the van, and Amethyst's legs can even be seen next to him. More importantly, Steven's onesie had a diamond cut rather than a star.
It is possible that "Steven Universe" season 4 episode 9 will bounce between the present and the past in telling the story or Steven for some reason turns into a baby.
The former is more likely, but the latter would make sense considering that the episode title is "Three Gems and a Baby," pertaining to Garnet, Pearl, Amethyst, and Steven.
This would also mean that the said episode might not be a flashback at all, although there is no way of knowing for now.
