The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update is coming to the Sony Xperia Z Series and it may already be available as early as now. This will depend of course on the type of phone you have since there is a said schedule on which devices would be first up and so on.

The first batch of devices which may have already gotten a notice of the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update include the Sony Xperia Z3 Dual, Z1, Z1 compact and Z Ultra. With the update already out, folks who have the said phones may want to check their settings and see if there is a software update available.

To refresh users who want to know what the Android 5.0.2 update (build 14.5.A.0.242) comes with, there will be a new Material Design, a Lock Screen Notification, and a 64-bit ART runtime compiler for faster opening of apps.

There will also be a new 'recent apps' screen and something called 'Project Volta' which is said to help the device as far as battery life is concerned.

Next week, more Sony Xperia handsets are expected to get the update as well. Scheduled are the Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and the Xperia C3, dual SIM phones whose update is expected to cover global users.

The Sony Xperia Z is expected to follow after that as well as other variants such as the Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR and Xperia Tablet Z.

Just in case users are unable to get a notification, you can head on to the 'About Device' setting and check the System updates. With the updates coming phases, users may need to check the update several times.

Again before applying the update, make sure your device has at least 50% charge or better and make sure you connectivity is stable to make sure you download the update properly.
