Samsung Galaxy S8 release date, specs news 2016: upcoming flagship to have 30MP camera?

Most fans are likely looking forward to the next Samsung flagship, owing to the Galaxy Note 7 recall issue. With the Galaxy S8 rumored to come out early next year, supposed leaks on its specs and features start to float online.

According to TechRadar, supposed leaks paint a next-generation picture for the Galaxy S8. One noted improvement for the new iteration is a massive overhaul of its camera. Reportedly, Samsung will fit a new shooter, with a 30-MP setup, on the Galaxy S8. The assembly will come with some of the signature camera features like premium tone flash and optical image stabilization. Its selfie shooter will likely get a boost, too, as the leaks list a 9-MP assembly.

Should the supposed leaks turn out to be true, this is a massive improvement over the current-generation flagship. The Galaxy S7 and S7 edge only have a 12-MP setup as its main camera, while its front shooter features a 5-MP one. Some observers are not keen on the idea of a 30-MP shooter, though, since Samsung makes up in quality setup, other than a high pixel count, for its cameras. The current-generation Galaxy S7, for example, features Dual Pixel technology that goes head-to-head against current flagships with a dual camera setup.

However, a massive improvement on the Galaxy S8's shooters should not be discounted. Having premium specs and features for the Galaxy S8 are highly possible. The Galaxy S-series lineup is an established flagship in the Samsung smartphone lineups and has been known to introduce novel features and specs for its launches. Moreover, Samsung is still in recovery mode and will want to produce a premium flagship to make up for its Galaxy Note 7 issue.

While Samsung has yet to announce confirmation, it is already expected that the Galaxy S8 will debut early next year, quite possibly before the opening of the 2017 Mobile World Congress.
