Kodak Ektra is an Android-based smartphone that offers professional-grade camera capabilities. Individuals who are inclined to photography, experts and enthusiast alike, will surely appreciate the high-quality images that the device can offer when it hits Europe before the year ends.

Kodak recently unveiled the modern day version of its legendary Ektra camera. The name was first used back 1941 when the company introduced their photography device that uses the 35 mm film. Now, the new device will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and will be powered by a Helio X-20 decacore processor.

The Kodak Ektra will contain a 21 MP main camera, with its lens coated with a special non-reflective material developed specifically by the company. It offers an aperture of f/2.0, optical image stabilization (OIS), and autofocus, plus a dual-LED, dual-tone LED flash. The front has a 13 MP camera that features f/2.2 aperture, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), and HDR imaging. Both cameras can capture 4K videos.

The device also captures the look and feel of a real, old camera. The back end offers a leather-like, textured material that was all the rage back in the day. It also offers a grip that imitates an analog camera. The lens also occupies a large area on the backside. It has a big bump, and it is highlighted by a shiny metal ring.

A custom-built camera app provides an intuitive haptic touch and an SLR-style Scene Selection Dial. This can give its users the complete control on every image that will be captured. The controls offered include Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Sport, Nighttime, Panorama, and Bokeh, alongside a Smart Auto mode. Its manual mode offers an adjustable shutter speed and ISO rating and a horizontal two-step shutter release.

Kodak's Ektra contains 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal storage (expandable via a microSD card), a 5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) IPS display screen that features 441 ppi pixel density. Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display and the lens, plus a USB 3.0 Type C port is also included for fast charging and file transfers.

The company announced that the Kodak Ektra Smartphone will be priced at £449 and will be available in Europe before the end of the year. There is no information available if the device will be introduced in other regions.
