Jessa Duggar photo with gun posted by boyfriend Ben Seewald sparks controversy

 Facebook

19 Kids and Counting's Jessa Duggar caused a stir on social media when a photo of her posting with a semi-automatic rifle was posted by her boyfriend Ben Seewald.

Seewald, who is currently in a courtship with Jessa, posted the photo with the caption: "My AWESOME girlfriend, #DontmesswithJessa."

Since the photo was posted, fans took to social media to express their opinion on the controversial photo.

One user wrote: "Wow, would Jesus carry that weapon?"

However, since posting the photo, Ben Seewald updated his Facebook profile with the following message: "Jesus is EVERYTHING to me. Without Him, I am nothing"

Season 8 of 19 Kids and Counting aired last week, with Derick Dillard proposing to Jill Duggar. Their wedding is less than two weeks away, and fans are hoping that it will be aired in season 9 when the show returns.

Jessa remains in a courtship with Ben Seewald and fans are awaiting to hear their engagement news.

The conservative Duggar family bans casual dating, and instead embark on 'courtships,' which is "dating with a purpose," meaning that physical contact is restricted and there is no-hand holding or kissing. The courtship is also chaperoned by adults, with their contact being monitored by their parents.
