iPad Pro 3 2018 release date, specs rumors: Next premium tablet to share striking similarities with iPhone X

Some Apple followers have been noticing the lack of major upgrades in the iPad Pro series for the past few years. The Cupertino-based tech firm has made impressive changes on its MacBook Pro and iPhone lineups, with the high-end Mac hardware receiving the Touch Bar feature, and the 2017 flagship handset, the iPhone X, having groundbreaking highlights such as the facial recognition scanner and an all-screen front display. This year, the iPad Pro 3 2018 is expected to undergo a major overhaul as well, which will result in a brand-new tablet resembling the iPhone X.

According to the latest rumors, Apple is planning to re-introduce the iPad Pro series, the same way that the company has presented the iPhone X to the public. To note, the 2017 iteration of the Apple flagship phone ditched all the characteristics of a classic iPhone. Just like the iPhone X, the iPad Pro 3 2018 is expected to get rid of the sizeable bezels on the top and bottom portions in exchange for a full view display.

Interestingly, a line of code spotted in the latest iOS 11.3 beta build supports the idea that the iPad Pro 3 2018 will follow the iPhone X's lead. The particular code mentions that the next iOS 11 version is designed for a "modern iPad." Many people believe that the "modern iPad" pertains to the iPad Pro 3 2018, and knowing that Apple also used the "modern iPhone" phrase to describe the arrival of the iPhone X last year, it is speculated that the next-gen iPad Pro will share a striking resemblance with the current iPhone flagship.

Some of the possible new features of the iPad Pro 3 2018 include the 3D facial recognition technology via TrueDepth camera sensors and Animojis. To achieve an all-screen design for the new iPad Pro, it is expected that the tablet will also lose the home button and the Touch ID feature. Nevertheless, the device already has the Face ID system as a method for authentication. It is also likely that the 3.5 mm headphone jack will also be removed in exchange for a USB Type C earphone connector.

It was tipped that Apple has already registered for its upcoming iPad tablets with the Eurasian Economic Commission, suggesting that the much-awaited iPad refresh will happen very soon. The iPad Pro 3 2018, along with other iPad updates, is rumored to be announced at a keynote event in March.
