Staying alive is the only goal for Carrie (Claire Danes), Quinn (Rupert Friend), and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) in the upcoming episode of the hit Showtime series "Homeland."

In "The Litvinov Ruse," all hell breaks loose in the lives of the three main protagonists, as each fights to stay alive. Although Allison (Miranda Otto) and Krupin (Mark Ivanir) have deemed that she knows too little to be a cause of worry, Carrie is still not out of the chopping block yet. Last episode, she uncovered the lead that the CIA Berlin Station Chief has a connection with Ahmed (Darwin Shaw), the spy who worked for the agency prior to his death.

Carrie saw the screensaver used in Ahmed's computer that she wanted Otto (Sebastian Koch) and Numan (Atheer Adel) to unlock. It reminded her of a beach that Allison said she frequented back when they were still working together in Baghdad in 2005. Although Carrie was still unsure how exactly the two were linked, it was a lead that she was determined to investigate. Will she finally learn that Allison is a double agent?

Meanwhile, Quinn and Saul are likewise not faring well. Quinn learned that the jihadists he was helping to get to Syria were not going there after all. They wanted to cause chaos to Berlin and it was clear that there would be chemical warfare involved. What was more, the terrorists clearly did not trust Quinn, as he was bounded and gagged right after the truth was revealed. His mission to talk to the deputy emir was turning to be a bust.

As for Saul, Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) is after his neck. With his defection, his former colleague is not thinking twice about treating him as the enemy. Last episode, Etai (Allan Corduner) told him to run after receiving intel that Adal knew where Saul was hiding. But the fugitive has nowhere else to go. Where will fate find Saul? Meanwhile, TV Guide reports that the upcoming episode will see the CIA and BND, the German Federal Intelligence Service, working together. Is it to apprehend Saul?

"Homeland" season 5 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
