'High School Musical 4' cast rumors, release date: fans eager to see return of Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens

Despite a previous report stating the original cast members of the first three "High School Musical" not returning for the upcoming "High School Musical 4," Parent Herald reveals that a recent reunion of the actors might indicate that at least Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens could be reprising their roles in the film.

According to the report, both Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron have posted images on Instagram showcasing the original cast members getting together for a reunion. While the reunion may not mean anything directly it does signify that Hudgens and Efron are talking to each other again and this could lead to them coming back in the fourth film.

The report points out that the two stars were not coming back mostly due to the fact that they had broken up in real life. The two stars had dated during the production of the original three films and this relationship lasted for four years before they separated and the two have reportedly not been talking to each other since.

With their reunion proving that the two may be on good terms once again there is a possibility of them reprising their roles for the fourth film but will no longer be the main stars given that "High School Musical 4" is intentionally shifting the spotlight on new characters.

Efron and Hudgens' characters may instead be in for small cameos, such as appearing as the respective coaches for the basketball team and drama club, or there may be a thicker plot regarding the two characters falling back in love without letting the spotlight drag away from the new cast.

Neither Efron nor Hudgens have confirmed the rumors and Disney has yet to make any official statement regarding their possible cameos and as such the information should still be taken as a rumor.

"High School Musical 4," according to Vine Report, is expected to release in 2017.
