'Grey's Anatomy' season 11 spoilers: Will Derek and Meredith divorce next season?

Latest spoilers of "Grey's Anatomy" strengthened the rumors that Meredith and Derek will end their marriage next season. This is brought about by Meredith's confusion on whether she will follow Derek in Washington or stay in GSMH.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 11 is set to return in the fall and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and her husband Derek (Patrick Dempsey) will have to face the agonizing decision whether they should head to Washington after Derek was offered a job there. However, Meredith will somehow feel like she has been cast aside, which could lead her tbreak up with her husband. She will not give up on him easily, but eventually their relationship could come to an end.

This sparked rumors that their separation will lead to the crumbling in their relationship and may cause a break up. But speculations that Meredith will break up with Derek was quashed by Shonda Rhimes who dismissed its possibility.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes told Entertainment Weekly, "I don't think that it's a marriage-ending argument. It feels very TV for people's marriages to end over easy things or hard things. I actually would like to watch a couple have a hard time in their marriage, and have it not be that that means their marriage is over. There's something really great about watching a couple have a mature marriage where stuff goes wrong, things are hard, and people try to push through it and figure it out."

"Grey's Anatomy" season 11 will also focus on the relationship between Margaret "Maggie" Pierce (Kelly McCreary) and Meredith. Last season, it was revealed that Maggie is Mer's half-sister as she was Ellis Grey's daughter from her affair with Richard.

According to speculations, Ellis gave birth to a daughter following her affair with Richard, but she gave up the child for adoption. Meanwhile, fans were worried how Shonda Rhimes will be able to explain all of the loopholes in the storyline.

Filming for the season 11 of "Grey's Anatomy" has begun and the series will be back on air on Thursday, Sept. 25 at 8/7c on ABC.
