Director Paul Feig may have found his cast for the upcoming remake of the classic sci-fi comedy film "Ghostbusters," but this time, he will be featuring an all-female cast to fight off pesky ghosts.

The director posted the photos of comediennes Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones on his Twitter account on Wednesday, then followed it up with a tweet saying, "In other news, #Ghostbusters will be hitting theaters July 22, 2016. Save the date!"

The news about an all-female lead for the "Ghostbusters" reboot first broke in October 2014, when the "Bridesmaids" director confirmed that he was tapped to helm the project when original director Ivan Reitman bowed out.

The new concept was approved by original "Ghostbusters" lead Bill Murray, who said that having female stars in the film is a good idea. He is also one of the first people who suggested getting McCarthy and Wiig to star in the film.

Murray was joined by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson in the lead roles for the hit 1984 movie.

Aykroyd also expressed his delight upon learning of the all-female cast of the film. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor said, "The Aykroyd family is delighted by this inheritance of the Ghostbusters torch by these most magnificent women in comedy."

The actor, who also co-wrote the original movie that came out in 1984, continued, "My great grandfather, Dr. Sam Aykroyd, the original Ghostbuster, was a man who empowered women in his day, and this is a beautiful development in the legacy of our family business."

McCarthy and Wiig both worked with Feig on the epic 2011 comedy film "Bridesmaids," while Jones and McKinnon are both currently cast as hosts of the Saturday Night Live, where the two other women also came from.

Out of the four, only McCarthy has officially signed for the "Ghostbusters" reboot. However, the director was very confident that the three other actresses will be on board once the filming begins.
