In the next episode of "Fresh Off the Boat," Eddie Huang (Hudson Yang) realizes that his friends may not be as cool as he may think.

The synopsis and promotional photos for the upcoming installment titled "Slide Effect" was just recently released and showed Eddie at his high school locker meeting up with his childhood friend Trent (Trevor Larcom) who happens to be the hallway monitor. It appears though that Trent hands a warning slip over to Eddie for loitering in the hallway during class hours. Eddie is surprised and asks Trent if he can let this instance slide since they are friends. It seems Trent is not going to let him get away on this one. Eddie then realizes his friend may not be as cool as he may think.

Later, his other childhood friends meet Eddie in the hallway again and persuade him to sign up for some activities. However, he realizes that those hobbies are somewhat lame and wishes he could have cooler friends who are up for more interesting hobbies. Meanwhile, Eddie's mom Jessica (Constance Wu) has just finished writing her book and needs her picture taken professionally for it. However, being a spendthrift that she is, she decides to have a photograph taken by her neighbor Honey (Chelsey Crisp) who would do it for free.

In the last episode, Jessica asked a favor from her husband Louis (Randall Park) if he could give a copy of her horror novel to the agent of Kenny Rogers who happened to be a famous singer. Louis was very uncomfortable doing this but had to go along with his wife's wishes. Rogers ended up getting the book and liking it.

"Fresh Off the Boat" season 4 episode 9 will air on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 9:30 p.m. EST on ABC.
