The many supporters of the movie franchise "Fast and Furious" are anticipating its eighth installment, a sequel that is already in the works.

Undoubtedly, the new movie will offer new adventures and thrills and more powerful characters.

The latest news surrounding "Fast and Furious 8" is about its director: who will take the lead in directing the film?

As reported in CinemaBlend, the production may have not found their director yet and the creative team is still focused on the screenplay.

However, based on a recent Instagram post from Vin Diesel, rumors started circulating that Justin Lin, director of four F&F movies, will return to take the directing role for "Furious 8".

Lin passed the responsibility of directing "Furious 7" to James Wan, but this time it seems that he might take over again, as reported in Enstarz.

The upcoming "Furious 8" will be the first movie sequel in which the late Paul Walker, who was one of the original cast members, will not be seen.

However, most of the cast members will be back for the new movie. Among those who will make a comeback is Eva Mendes, who, according to reports, will be the main focus of the next move.

In April, it was reported that the actress will reprise her role in the movie as agent Monica Fuentes. As reported in WeGotThisCovered, it appears that Mendes' signing on is a "done deal."

It was also reported that Dame Helen Mirren might star in the upcoming show as a villain, since she expressed clearly how she wanted to be in a "Furious" movie so much.

During an interview in "Late Night with Seth Myers," Dame Mirren admitted that she wanted to star in one of the "Furious" films, but she doubted that Diesel knows who she was, People reported.

But Diesel made it clear that he knew who the iconic Mirren was, and more importantly, he said via Access Hollywood that he would definitely welcome the 69-year-old British actress in a new "Furious" movie.

Mirren's appearance and Lin's comeback as director are news reports that are yet to be confirmed.

"Fast and Furious 8" will be scheduled to hit cinemas in April 2017.
