DC rumors: DCEU slate reveals only six movies for the future

A page spread from an issue of "Flashpoint" from DC DC Comics

DC is looking to make a strong comeback after the box office and critical failure of "Justice League," but some fans are worried since their movie franchise only has six official future projects at the moment.

According to fan website Revenge of the Fans, DC Extended Universe's (DCEU) slate currently only includes "Aquaman," "Shazam!," "Wonder Woman 2," "Suicide Squad 2," "Flashpoint," and "The Batman." In addition, only the former three are confirmed and underway at the moment. These, however, are not official reports, and Warner Bros., DC's license holder, has yet to reveal the official slate later this month.

This may be quite disappointing for some since the original speculation was that there were a total of 21 projects being planned by both Warner Bros. and DC. There are two rumored additional projects in addition to the six, but both have not been confirmed to be greenlit by the studio yet.

These two are said to be "Man of Steel 2," which is the sequel for Superman's solo feature, and "Nightwing," which is about a former Batman sidekick Robin who became an independent vigilante in the DCEU. However, it seems that "Man of Steel 2" ran into some problems because of "Justice League," making it difficult for Superman's movie to find a willing director.

As for "Flashpoint," the movie will be the Flash a.k.a. Barry Allen's (Ezra Miller) movie and will probably take inspiration from a DC comic book arc of the same name which involved a time-travelling Flash who happened to mess up the continuity of the DC universe by trying to save his mother. It seems that said movie is making significant progress and may soon be headed into production.

The same, however, can not be said for "The Batman" since actor Ben Affleck is apparently having friction with Warner Bros. and has even stated recently that he wanted out of the DCEU. Regardless, these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt and fans should stay tuned for more announcements from DC and Warner Bros.
