The cast and characters of "Chicago Fire" season 6 are coming in hot, and while the previous episode ended with a cliffhanger, fans can expect the season finale to return on March 1 with a burning aftermath.

This aftermath, in particular, will be seen for Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) after their heroic jump off a roof as the flames engulfed their platform. Apparently, the two will not walk away unburnt and unscathed from the incident and might get injuries that will affect both of them significantly.

This was implied by showrunner David Haas himself when he confirmed that there will be some repercussions to the previous episode titled "Law of the Jungle." Haas indicated that the cliffhanger was not just for show and will have consequences for the characters involved.

"There's going to be some medical ramifications that play into the next episode. So it's not just a throwaway cliffhanger. They both end up needing some quick rescues themselves," said Haas. It can be recalled that the previous cliffhanger in episode 11 was quite baffling, as it simply cut to black in the middle of the action, something Haas has not done before despite having done a lot of prior cliffhangers.

Haas also stated that his primary inspiration for the said cliffhanger with Casey and Severide was from the 1969 film "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid." While this left some fans puzzled, it was well worth it seeing as how episode 11 of season 6 has become one of the most memorable ones in the show, with Casey and Severide's jumping off a roof being the cherry on top.

Severide might also be in it for a rough relationship in the upcoming turn of events, as he was caught off-guard when Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) informed him that she might be moving out. Still, Severide's injury might cancel this out and their relationship may eventually progress further than platonic since Haas himself stated that he liked the chemistry between the two characters.

Whatever awaits Casey and Severide will be seen once episode 12 of season 6 titled "The F is For" airs on Thursday, March 1, at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
