Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix Divorce news: Divorce final, joint custody agreed by both

Casey Affleck and Summer Phoenix are now officially and legally single, as the two have finalized their divorce proceedings.

Summer was the one who filed for the divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the basis for their separation. Meanwhile, the two have agreed on a joint custody for their two sons, 13-year-old Indiana and 9-year-old Atticus. Casey initially did not want this and even asked a judge to deny Summer the custody for their two children, but the two ultimately met halfway.

Earlier in September, the two came to an agreement, where the 40-year-old Oscar winner must pay his 37-year-old ex-wife spousal and child support. The two unofficially separated last year but remained close friends all throughout until their official divorce. According to their spokesperson, they even issued a statement back then that they had gone their separate ways rather amicably.

So far Summer and Casey have not commented on their divorce yet, but last year's sources have stated that the Summer was having a lot of trust issues towards Casey. This was despite the two undergoing therapy and marriage counseling.

Earlier in the year, Casey had been spotted with Floriana Lima, and he even took her to the Academy Awards during which he won the Oscar for Best Actor. Coincidentally, Casey's brother Ben Affleck is also undergoing his own divorce process with his wife Jennifer Garner. Likewise, the two also agreed and wanted joint custody of their three children and also separated back in 2015.

The divorce was unfortunate for Casey and Summer as well as their two boys since the couple has been married for nine years, from 2006 to 2016. Casey met Summer through her brother Joaquin Phoenix back in 1995 when he worked with Casey in the film "To Die For." Up until their separation, the two have been together for 16 years. The last time they were seen together was back in 2014.
