'Bates Motel' season 5 spoilers: show expected to see addition of Marion Crane

"Bates Motel" season 4 ended with a shocking twist as it begins to lead the show's story into the events of the 1960 film "Psycho." Further cementing this is the fact that TV Line has revealed that the character Marion Crane will be making an appearance in "Bates Motel" season 5, the final season of the show.

According to the report, executive producer Carlton Cuse explained that Marion Crane will be appearing in multiple episodes. Marion, who was portrayed by Janet Leigh in the film, is identified by many film fans as the most iconic victim of Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) and is also one of the most iconic characters in film history.

"We do hope to see Marion Crane next season. That will be a big moment," he explained. "We wanted the final season to allow us to do our version of the 'Psycho' lore. We will be colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film, but it would be boring to just recreate 'Psycho.'"

Cuse's statements confirm that season 5 will not be a direct adaptation of the story from the original film.

This was already hinted at in the season 4 finale when it was confirmed that Norma (Vera Farmiga) was dead but her lover Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell) was still alive. In the original film, Norman kills them both and makes it look like a murder-suicide. It is now likely that his fight against Romero will be tied into the arrival of Marion Crane.

Fans speculate that season 5 may introduce Marion the same way she was introduced in the films -- an office assistant who stole money and tried to run away, only to be murdered by Norman at the hotel. Marion's sister then arrives and begins an investigation and this leads to Norman's eventual arrest.

It is possible this storyline will be tied with Romero's involvement in the drug trade business and his personal vendetta to prove Norman killed his mother, Norma.

No actress has yet been cast to portray Marion.

If you look at the Church of England’s communications all that it ever seems to highlight is the good works that Christians do to improve the temporal well-being of their neighbours. It is right to highlight these things, but they are not the primary reason for the Church’s existence.
