WWE rumors, Wrestlemania 33 match predictions: will John Cena take on NXT superstar Shinsuke Nakamura?

Has John Cena found his opponent for Wrestlemania 33? WWE.com

NXT superstar Shinsuke Nakamura is yet to make it to the WWE main roster, but The King of Strong Style already has his eye on John Cena and he wants the 15-time world champion for Wrestlemania 33.

Nakamura is one of the top superstars in NXT and fans believe it will only be a matter of time before he follows his once-rival Finn Balor to the main roster.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, the NXT champion revealed that he would let be toe to toe with Cena, in the biggest pay-per-view event for WWE no less.

"I'd like to fight at WrestleMania... John Cena–that's a great choice," Nakamura, who just nabbed the NXT Championship from Samoa Joe at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II, said.

Cena recently suffered defeat at the hands of AJ Styles in the SummerSlam 2016. His schedule in WWE has been decreased, but he still remains one of the company's headliners.

Of course, if Nakamura wants a piece of Cena for Wrestlemania, he will have to cross over to the main roster to do so. By then, WWE will take care of the build-up. That being said, he has to be in Smackdown sooner or later.

However, if former WWE, and WCW star Sean "X-Pac" Waltman had it his way, he would like to see The King of Strong Style take on none other than Brock Lesnar.

"A guy that would match up toe to toe with him as good as probably most people there is Shinsuke Nakamura. He fought pride," he said in "The Tomorrow Show."

"He's brilliant, not only is he an amazing fighter legitimately but as an artist he has channeled like Liberace, Michael Jackson [and] Freddie Mercury," he went on to say.

Nakamura is the first Japanese superstar to hold a WWE championship. It remains to be seen when he will go up to the WWE main roster, but it is all but confirmed he will be there.

According to previous reports, Nakamura will stay in NXT for a while to be the top bill there until the developmental system finds another headliner of a superstar.
