WWE rumors: John Cena sitting out of WWE this fall?

Will John Cena take some time away from WWE again? WWE.com

The latest WWE rumors are claiming that John Cena will be out of the wrestling scene for a while given that will be busy with the production of "American Grit" season 2.

A little over two months after the first season ended, the 15-time WWE world champion's military-inspired competition reality series was officially renewed by FOX.

What Culture points out that Cena did not step into the ring for a couple of months filming the 10-episiode first season and it will likely be the same when he goes back to film the upcoming season.

That being said, fans will have to do with the absence of the Leader of Cenation. Not that it was a big shock. Even before "American Grit" entered the picture, Cena's WWE schedule has already been trimmed down.

It is believed that because of this, WWE is pressured to make a successor to Cena out of the pool of superstars it has. WWE champion Dean Ambrose and promising WWE newcomer Finn Balor are at the forefront for this.

Ambrose is expected to keep the title after his battle with Dolph Ziggler at WWE SummerSlam. It is believed that WWE is building him up as the face of SmackDown.

Balor, on the other hand, was quick to stand out after being drafted from NXT. He will be battling Seth Rollins for the Universal title at the August pay-per-view event.

Bleacher Report believes that having new faces take over the scene will help WWE usher into the new era and also to deal with Cena's growing absence.

If "American Grit" season 2 will premiere around the same month it premiered this year, which was April, fans can expect Cena out of the WWE radar around November to December.

For now, Cena has not detailed his plans on his WWE appearances, but it is expected that he will miss a slew of live events. Rumor has it that he even might miss WWE Backlash, not because of the series though, but apparently due to his booking at a live event in China.
