WWE rumors 2015: John Cena expected to transition into heel role soon

The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has time and again played wrestlers as face and heel and ultimately, the ones who are able to make a good account on both sides are the ones who eventually become WWE Hall of Famers.

For WWE fans, such is nothing new and the role has been limited to quite a few. Among the wrestlers who were able to play both heel and face include Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and Shawn Michaels, all of whom remain household names to this day.

The WWE may have to look for its new top heel if it is to address its sagging ratings, and the looming best man to do so seems to be John Cena.

Cena is no stranger to the heel role, something he apparently had during the early stages of his career. Even though it was not as diabolical as the heel wrestlers we see today, Cena has been around long enough to make the shift without rough edges.

Assuming he does, it may not happen until next month. Cena is currently on personal leave and the WWE is currently trying to make do with their roster sans Seth Rollins who has been taken out due to a knee injury.

Rollins is counted out for Wrestlemania 32 and the WWE needs to come up with an alternative fast. Dean Ambrose or even Roman Reigns were seen as possible heel-turning wrestlers but the effect they would have is nothing if compared to someone like Cena.

Could this be the setup for a Cena vs. The Undertaker finale at Wrestlemania 32? Well, it could be and the earlier the WWE starts on the heel evolution of Cena, the better.

Upon his expected return in December, it could be the start of the heel-like Cena moving forward. If so, that would give him ample time to sell his new character with Wrestlemania 32 set for April 2016.
