The World Evangelical Alliance, the largest international network of evangelical churches, is offering “helpful resources” for pastors wishing to respond to the spiritual, physical and emotional impact of Hurricane Katrina.
The resources, which were made available online at the WEA website since Monday, Sept 5, give pastors resources to help them “reach out to people who have lost everything” and reply “to questions about where God is in the midst of disasters.”
“It is critical that churches provide not only physical resources but bring a biblical message of hope to those who are in pain and have lost so much,” said Geoff Tunnicliffe, WEA International Director.
Resources include a list of books as well as online articles addressing faith amid tragedy.

The World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) International Director, Geoff Tunnicliffe also recently released a statement on the impact of Hurricane Katrina on Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana in the USA.
He expressed his grave sadness at the events and offered unity and compassion with those that had been affected.

Tunnicliffe said, “We unite in grief and sadness with all of those in the United States who have been affected by the hurricane and flooding. We grieve with those who have lost loved ones and all their belongings.”
He went on to ask for Christians across the globe to keep in their thoughts the ones suffering and made a call for worldwide prayer, “We call on Christians across the globe to remember these suffering ones in your prayers and to respond generously toward the relief interventions.”
The World Evangelical Alliance is a global network of 123 nations who each have formed an evangelical church alliance. Nearly 3,000,000 local churches and 380 million Christians identify with these alliances.
