The WISE Women’s Synod, an event for Christian women throughout Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England, is due to be held in the Laetare Centre, Linlithgow, in Scotland, from 12–14 August.
The event will focus on the theme of "journeying", looking at its meaning in a mental, physical and spiritual way.
WISE combines the spiritual needs of women with their day-to-day reality, welcoming "all women with a passion for the earthly reality of the spiritual search."
The centre itself is situated in historic Linlithgow, 20 minutes drive from Edingburgh and famous for its impressive castle, the birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. The Laetere Centre itself can accommodate up to 72 people in shared 2, 3, and 4 bedded rooms.
Speakers at the event will include Dr Alison Elliot, Moderator of the Church of Scotland (2004 – 2005) and Reverend Kathy Galloway, Leader of the Iona Community.
The weekend-long Synod will also hold a selection of workshops, titles yet to be announced, but also includes free-time on Saturday for all wishing to see more of the burgh of historic Linlithgow.
