Watch the first trailer of 'I'm Not Ashamed' The Rachel Joy Scott Columbine story

Pure Flix, the studio behind the highly successful faith based film, "God's Not Dead," recently released the first trailer of its upcoming movie "I'm Not Ashamed," which will be released this fall.

The film is based on the life of Columbine High School martyr Rachel Joy Scott, who was the first victim of the massacre that claimed the lives of 12 students, a teacher and the perpetrators.

The movie stars Maisey McLain in the lead role of Rachel Joy Scott, whose diaries and journals became the inspiration of the movie. Through Rachel's journal entries, she was able to chronicle her faith journey as well as her views on her high school life, questions about her peers and her friends. Most of the journal entries were addressed to God.

"Compassion is the greatest form of love that humans can offer. Test it out for yourself. See the difference that it can make in the lives around you. Tomorrow's not a promise, but it's a chance. You just may start a chain reaction," says Rachel towards the end of the trailer. The quote was reportedly from one of Rachel's own essays which she penned before the shooting.

Through her writing, Rachel was able to inspire others to show kindness to their fellow man, and she was able to share her dreams of changing the world through ministry of her Christian faith, making her the subject of several books and documentaries after her death.

However, a report from Crosswalk Entertainment and Culture editor Ryan Duncan suggested there was some opposition to the content of the movie relating to concerns that it is insensitive to victims and survivors of the 1999 Columbine Massacre.

The film, which was originally slated to release in time for the Columbine anniversary, was pushed back to September at the request of Rachel's parents so that it could be showcased as a celebration of their daughter's life and mission instead of the tragedy.
