Passionate singer-songwriter and worship leader Tommy Walker is releasing a new version of his hit song 'He knows my name'.

Tommy collaborated with Dove Award-winning producer Ed Cash on the new track, in celebration of the original, which reached No 1 in 1997.

'He knows my name', sung in churches the world over, reminds Christians that no one is forgotten by God.

"In 1997, I met a seven year-old orphan in the Philippines named Jerry," Tommy explains. "Every day he would ask, 'Tommy, what is my name?' Not many people on this earth knew this abandoned, extremely poor boy's name. I was able to tell him and his other orphaned friends that someone much greater than I did."

In the new version, Tommy adds new sentiment to this orphan's prayer by using children's voices on the new bridge of the song.

"I recorded this version of 'He Knows My Name' with children's voices on the new bridge because it echoes the sound of Jerry and the millions of forgotten children in the world who are not forgotten by God! The song serves as a prayer for the abandoned, nameless, friendless and forgotten to say, 'He knows my name.' There is nothing more powerful than to know and declare that the God of heaven knows us and loves us."

Since his first trip to the Philippines in 1997, God has stirred a deep desire in Tommy to reach out and serve the forgotten children of the world. One of the ways he is doing this is through education. With a team of 15 people, Tommy returned to the Philippines last August to bring the love of Christ to those in need through education and compassion. Tommy is now supporting more than 60 'Break Through Scholars' in schools and colleges across the Philippines.

"I believe an education is a meaningful way to stop the cycle of poverty that's gripped many of their families for generations. In doing this we can help them fulfil the calling God has on their lives," he says.

Tommy Walker has been serving in a worship leader role for over 15 years and many of his other songs remain church service favourites, like "No Greater Love", "Mourning Into Dancing" and "That's Why We Praise Him".

He released his first-ever national studio recording, I Have A Hope, on Maranatha! Music last March to critical acclaim.
