'Seven Year Switch' spoilers: 'Experimental marriage couples' talk about sleeping arrangements

 FYI

"Seven Year Switch," FYI's strangers for spouses-related experiment, is often touted as the new "Married at First Sight." This is why there are reports that the latter series will no longer be renewed with a new show of the same premise already making a splash.

Besides, the new show is from Kinetic Content, which is the group that developed "Married at First Sight." Fans of the show, whose two seasons aired on AETV are still at the edge of their seats for an announcement of a season 3 renewal, which according to reports, may not happen.

"Seven Year Switch" recently premiered with the episode "Switch Therapy." There, four couples whose marriages are on the rocks were introduced. Their love stories were shared and the root cause of their souring marriage was shared.

By the end of the episode, the couples temporarily say goodbye to their real partners and gets paired up with a stranger in the hopes finding understanding and as to what should be done in their real marriages. New pairs out of these four couples were made as part of the switch therapy.

There are four couples participating on the show. There's Eric and Danielle, who are married for a year and half but have been together six years before exchanging their "I do's." The latter thinks the former isn't husband material and is too "carefree" while Eric thinks his wife is a little too uptight.

Houston and Alisha were in a relationship for seven years before they wed eight months ago. Alisha thinks Houston is working too much (he is an engineer by day and a DJ by night) while her husband can't seem to fathom why Alisha is having problems with him working, adding she's too clingy.

Another participating "Seven Year Switch" couple is CW and Rachel, who have been married for three years. The two work from home—the former on a fortune 500 company and the latter, a voice-over artist. Because of the nature of their careers, they feel like the lack of communication with others strain their marriage.

Lastly, there's Leah and Neal, who already spent eight years as a married couple. Three years into the marriage, Leah gained weight and Neal didn't find her as attractive. Things got worse when the man of the house lost his job. It depressed him, thus the relationship suffered even more. Infidelity committed by both parties is involved too.

After getting all swapped with their "new" spouses, the next "Seven Year Switch" episode will see Neal paired up with Alisha, Houston with Leah, and CW with Danielle and Eric with Rachel. The "experimental married couples" are off to get to know more about each other as they "[navigate] their new living quarters and sleeping arrangements."

"Seven Year Switch" episode 2 airs July 14.
