Church of Scotland ministers teed off yesterday with priests of the Roman Catholic Church in a unique golfing match at Kilmacolm Golf Club, Renfrewshire in Scotland.

Ministers and priests from as far afield as Golspie, Arbroath, Perthshire and Faslane gathered for the match which served to highlight the work done by the anti-sectarianism organisation Nil by Mouth.

This follows recent high-profile collaborations between the two Churches, including the Church of Scotland's Moderator, the Rt Rev Alan McDonald, and Cardinal Keith O'Brien's Old Firm match visit to Celtic Park last month.

Two teams with a total of 24 players were brought together for the game. Each team comprised two ministers and two priests.

"We hope to make this an annual match, to further cement friendships and demonstrate once more that the churches are united in their determination to stamp out sectarianism," said Rev John Chalmers of the Church of Scotland.
