An extract of the new DVD version of The Glasgow Gospel will be distributed via the Scottish Herald on August 27 as part of a yearlong programme to celebrate the Scottish Bible Society’s bicentenary this year.

The Glasgow Gospel is the popular paraphrase of Gospel stories in the Glaswegian dialect written by Jamie Stuart.

It features prominent Glaswegians telling stories about Jesus, His birth, the calling of the first disciples, the Last Supper and other moments of His life.

The presenters are Paul Young from ‘Hooked on Scottish’, June Brogan and Eileen McCallum of BBC Scotland drama River City, folk singer Alastair McDonald, storyteller Donald Smith and writer Jamie Stuart.

“This is a great collaboration to bring the Bible to people in a fresh way,” said Elaine Duncan, Chief Executive of the Scottish Bible Society. “We are praying that the DVD will whet people’s appetite for the Bible and will stimulate conversations about this most intriguing book.”

The DVD has been produced by the Scottish Bible Society in partnership with Collie Productions.

The full version featuring over thirty stories will be available to buy from the Scottish Bible Society from October 2009.
