Samsung proves that it is still on top of the phablet market with the release of the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. The two Samsung phablets are giving Apple's iPhone 6 Plus and Google's Nexus 6 a tough time. 

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge arrived later than the Galaxy Note 4 and has a more expensive price tag, but reports are stating that the former has taken the lead and is cannibalizing the sales of the latter. 

The popularity of the Note Edge is attributed to its curved screen panel.  The curved screen can be used as a dock for apps, multi-tasking switcher, notifications pane, and a place for widgets for quick access. 

Samsung made sure that the handset will not slip due to its shape and form, and the metal edges give the handset a solid grip. Moreover, the curved screen on the right hand side gives the handset a grip area where the fingers rest.  But while the curved screen is placed on the right side, it has a left-handed mode and has virtual Android buttons to replace the hardware buttons, making it simple and convenient for lefties.  

Aside from the curved screen display, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge comes with signature features such as S-Pen stylus and TouchWiz user interface, making it easier for users to navigate from one app to another. 

Apart from its unique screen, the Galaxy Note Edge shares almost the same specs and features as the Galaxy Note 4: Quad HD Super AMOLED at 571 ppi; 2.7 GHz octa-core processor; 3 GB of RAM; microSD slot of up to 64 GB; 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization and 3.7-megapixel front-facing camera; 3220 mAh battery; Android 4.4 KitKat; heart rate monitor; and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the Home button. 

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge costs $399 under a 2-year contract, which is $100 more than the $299 upfront price for the Galaxy Note 4 with a new 2-year contract.
