The founder of the Purpose Driven Church, and Head of the Saddleback Church in California, Rev Rick Warren will soon be offering Starbuck’s coffee drinkers God-filled quotes with their drinks.

The famous author of the worldwide bestselling book, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’ will have a Biblical quote featured on Starbucks cups in what will be the first mention of God in the company’s latest quote campaign, “The Way I See It”.

This year Starbucks is printing 63 quotes from various writers, scientists, athletes, musicians among many others on its cups to instigate more conversation and debate; a tradition the chain is proud of and wishes to encourage.

Rev Warren has said that the initiative to bring Biblical-focused quotes to the cups came to him after seeing a Starbucks quote on evolution by Louise Leakey, a palaeontologist. Noticing that Starbucks were solicited customer contributions for their 2006 campaign, Warren sent his in.

Just last week, Starbucks spokesperson Sanja Gould confirmed that Rev Warren’s quote would be used in its campaign.

Starbucks is not the first company to carry Christian themes in their packaging. Another US-based fast-food chain operating in California, ‘In-N-Out Burger’ also includes small notations for Bible verses in its burger and drink packaging.

The company says the quote from Rev Warren -- "You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense" -- shows diversity of thought and opinion, reported the New York Times Sunday.

However, the cups will carry a disclaimer stating that the opinions "do not necessarily reflect the views of Starbucks."
