Redcliffe College in Gloucester is preparing to commence its annual youth ministry course, focusing on topics such as leadership and young people, and the theology of youth work and youth culture.

The course is targeting church members and leaders who are new to youth work, or in need of some "fresh inspiration", says Redcliffe. It will run over four Saturdays between October and December.

Redcliffe College is an internationally recognised Centre for Mission Training, with aninternational community of over 90 students representing around 30 countries.

The college offers short courses including Across the Cultures and Mission in Europe, as well as more advanced courses such as a BA in Applied Theology and MA in Global Issues in Contemporary Mission.

For Redcliffe's Youth Ministry course, participants that attend all four days will also be able to use the course to gain a Bishop's and Archbishop's certificate in youth work with Gloucester Diocese. In addition, the course will be linked to an accredited certificate by Gloucestershire County Council Youth Service.

Sessions will be led by experienced youth workers from the Gloucester Diocese, Youth for Christ, The Salvation Army, as well as a local Gloucester church.

The course will include seminars, workshops and will also set aside time for discussion and interaction between participants.

Polly, an attendee at the 2006 course testified: "I found the teaching fun, interactive and a good mix of theory and practice. Each session was taught by youth workers who are currently 'out there' so they were up to date and credible. In addition, it was a good opportunity to network with the leaders and other course participants who were also working with youth."
