This week marks the sixth year anniversary of Mobible, one of the leading Christian providers of content for mobile devices. To celebrate they have made the New International Version of the Bible available to the list of translations available to visitors.

A representative of Mobible, David De Silva said that: "The New International Version is considered by many people to be the definitive contemporary English translation of the Bible."

He continued: "Having the NIV text available to Mobible visitors has been a dream of mine ever since the service was launched six years ago. I am thrilled to have reached an agreement with the International Bible Society that allows this to happen."

Mobible can be visited using WAP-capable cellphone by visiting http://wap.mobible.org/. For those equipped with HTML-capable devices like wirless PDA’s and some of the newer cellphones http://pda.mobible.org/ is the place to go.

Established in 2000, Mobible provides Christian content to users of mobile devices like cellphones and PDAs. Mobible provides the full text of the Bible, as well as a ‘Psalm for Today’, which is also available as an audio podcast.

There is also a Mobible In A Year service, which guides users through the Bible in one year by use of SMS text messages.

David De Silva is currently a service designer for a UK cellular operator and has been working in telecommunications for over ten years, dealing with the Internet, mobile and fixed wireless providers both in the United Kingdom and abroad.

His vision is to see the Kingdom of God served by the practical use of modern technology. He is a regular attendant of the City Church in Bristol, which is part of the Newfrontiers family of Churches. De Silva has wife, three children and lives in Bristol.
