The Girls’ Brigade in Scotland has welcomed its new president to the team at the Brigade’s national annual meeting in Port Glasgow, Scotland, on Saturday.

The meeting to install Anne Hosie, who will lead the Brigade over the next year, was attended by more than 200 company leaders.

The 52-year-old accedes to the position of president after national president Susan Mackenzie’s departure from the Brigade. On accepting the office, Mrs Hosie said she was honoured to accept.

“I’m looking forward to this challenge. I just hope we can go forward with the reorganisation that has been put in place and with our current appeal.

“The Girls’ Brigade is still a worthwhile experience for girls. We teach them life skills and other talents they can use as they grow through the organisation,” said Mrs Hosie.

“I have been in the Girl’s Brigade for a long time and it is still very relevant in today’s day and age,” she added.

The Girls’ Brigade also discussed possible fund-raising strategies for a new outreach programme with young people at the annual meeting, which was also attended by Dr Alison Elliot, a previous Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.
