The Rt Rev Graeme Paul Knowles has been installed as Dean of St Paul's Cathedral. The Chapter and staff were delighted to welcome him to the cathedral and greatly look forward to supporting him in his new role.

The installation took place during Evensong, officiated by the Bishop of London. Also in attendance were the Lieutenant General of the Isle of Man, His Excellency, Vice Admiral Sir Paul Haddacks KCB, and the Lord Mayor and Sheriffs of the City of London.

The Rt Rev Graeme Knowles took the Oath to uphold the constitution and statutes of one of the world's best-known churches, and was installed in his seat in the Quire by Chapter. The Bishop of London also commissioned the Dean to act as an Honorary Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of London.

Dean Knowles was previously Bishop of Sodor and Man, a diocese that he had served since 2003, having also acted as Dean of Carlisle.

"I am delighted to have been part of this amazing occasion and to be welcomed as Dean into this wonderful and historic cathedral," he said. "I look forward to working with Chapter colleagues whose great work touches the lives of so many."

During the service, the Cathedral Choir was directed by Andrew Carwood, Director of Music. The organ was played by Assistant Director of Music and Organist, Huw Williams, and before the service by Assistant Sub-Organist, Tom Winpenny.

Dean Knowles succeeds Dr John Moses, who retired last August, into the Deanery of St Paul's.
