NBA Rumors: Ray Allen leaning on retirement

With the year coming to an end, Ray Allen has yet to decide which team he would be suiting up in the NBA. And from the looks of it, it may never happen.

Allen has been aggressively courted by the Golden State Warriors to join the streaking ballclub and possibly hone the Splash Brothers (Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson) but according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the 39 year old veteran is leaning more on retirement.

Allen has been out of the NBA picture after that celebrated departure of Lebron James for Cleveland. He was supposedly set to sign up for another year with the Miami Heat had James stayed on.

After James' departure, it was believed that Allen would follow his friend over in Ohio. Apparently nothing really transpired even after old teammates Mike Miller and James Jones joined Lebron in Cleveland.

Other teams did express interest in acquiring the services of the former 1996 first round draft pick, but nothing really materialized as of yet. Among the teams that were interested in acquiring Allen include the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs and the Washington Wizards.

Though Allen has been keeping himself in shape, the Warriors are Allen's most aggressive suitor although GM Bob Myers relayed that there could be some issues as far as playing time is concerned.

Newly installed head coach Steve Kerr is likewise clueless on what Allen wants to do next saying that he is not even sure if Allen still wants to plan NBA ball.

At 39 and undoubtedly one of the most accurate and deadliest shooters the NBA has ever had, Allen could still be fit even just as a spot up shooter for any team in the league. But with no word on what Allen truly wants to do, Allen may finally be hanging up his sneakers after a colorful NBA career which includes two NBA championship rings.
