Moorlands Bible College in Dorset will celebrate its diamond jubilee in June 2008 with the public reading of the Bible. 66 books, 1189 chapters, and over 54,000 verses, all in 7 days.
To celebrate the inspiration and centrality of God's word to the ministries at Moorlands, the college has set itself the challenge of reading the whole Bible in a project entitled 'Word in a Week' for seven days starting on Saturday 21 June and finishing in the end of term Valedictory service on Saturday 28 June 2008.
The readings will take place over 15 hours per day, involving local church groups, staff and students.
Director of Communications, Andrew Wileman outlined the vision: "The Bible matters and it is our job, especially at this Bible college, to ensure the Word remains relevant and authentic for our students moving out into the world in the 21st century."
"he public reading of the Word to coincide with our jubilee celebrations will be a significant milestone in the history of the college".
Working in partnership with the Bible Society, this project is part of a range of events related to 'The Word', including seminars on the role of the Bible in the world of Business and Politics.
A celebration concert of God's Word will be held at Moorlands on Friday June 27th with special guests Stuart Townsend leading worship and Dr Alistair Begg, from the USA will be the speaker.
