Minecraft PS4 and Xbox One release update: Sony re-evaluates PS4 edition, Microsoft's Xbox One console to follow next

Minecraft developer 4J Studios recently confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version of the game found its way back to Sony for what they expect as the final certification testing.

The information was posted in the studio's Twitter account. The post said, "#MinecraftPS4 is back with Sony for final testing. Fingers crossed..."

Last week, the Minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition had failed in its first try to acquire a certification from Sony after the gaming console maker discovered several issues with it. The developers pulled out the earlier version and worked on the said issues before sending it back once again to finally obtain the certification.

On the other hand, the Xbox One Edition of the game is still currently being worked on, and this one is way behind schedule even if it has the same feature set as the PS4 Edition. However, 4J Studios also said via Twitter that it can quickly catch on soon. The tweet reads, "Down to the last few bugs with #MinecraftXbox1 - hoping to hand it over to Microsoft by the end of the week!"

Game certifications normally last for two weeks or less before giving the go-ahead signal for it to be released in the market. If things will work out according to plan, the testing for Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition will not take that long since it was initially tested recently, and it will be released on Tuesday, September 2, in time for the updates of the PlayStation Store. But the worst case scenario could delay the game's release on September 9.

Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, meanwhile, could be released in time for the typical Wednesday schedule of digital releases for Xbox Live on September 10 once the testing goes smoothly.

Both Minecraft: PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will also get a minor update to allow players to transfer worlds from the earlier version to either the Xbox One or the PlayStation 4 editions.
