Mike Huckabee praises 'God's Not Dead 2,' calls it a 'wake-up call' for Americans

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee will be making a cameo appearance in the faith-based film "God's Not Dead 2," which will be released by Pure Flix Entertainment on April 1, 2016.

Huckabee has nothing but praises for the film, which he says is a "wake up call" for Americans to stand up for their Christian faith and values despite worldwide persecution.

"It was a real honour and thrill to film a scene for the movie," Huckabee told The Christian Post. "A few years ago, such a plot would seem like fiction, but in light of how Christianity is being criminalised in America, this film depicts life in America for those of faith."

The movie stars Melissa Joan Hart as Christian teacher Grace Wesley, who comes under fire after she shared her hope in Jesus Christ to her students. She even told them about the Bible verse Matthew 5:43, which says: "You have heard it said, 'love your neighbour and hate your enemy, But I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."

Huckabee said Christian teachers are now experiencing the same ordeal Grace went through, and this is why the movie has a very relevant theme.

"The breakout film 'God's Not Dead' struck a nerve with America, depicting how believers are marginalised in the classroom, and 'God's Not Dead 2' is virtually ripped from the day's headlines by showing how people of faith are now being criminalised and taken to the courtroom," Huckabee said. "A few years ago, such a film would be fiction that could someday be true; now, 'God's Not Dead 2' is the story that has become true for believers across the nation. 'God's Not Dead 2' is a wake-up call."

Other stars of the film include Jesse Metcalf, David A.R. White, Ray Wise, Robin Givens, Hayley Orrantia, and Fred Dalton Thompson, among others. "Duck Dynasty" star Sadie Robertson will also be a part of the film.
