LONDON - A man pleaded not guilty on Thursday to the murder of Rachel Nickell, who was stabbed to death on Wimbledon Common 15 years ago.
Robert Napper, 41, a former warehouseman from Plumstead, southeast London, will stand trial at the Old Bailey on November 11.
He spoke only to confirm his name during a 25-minute hearing.
Nickell, a 23-year-old part-time model, was found dead on the common in southwest London in July 1992.
She had been stabbed 49 times and sexually assaulted as she walked with her two-year-old son Alex, in one of Britain's most notorious murders.
Another man, Colin Stagg, was charged with Nickell's murder in 1993. His trial collapsed and he was cleared because police evidence from an undercover female officer was deemed inadmissible in court.
He has claimed compensation from the Metropolitan Police and the Home Office.
