Kanye West seems to be a hot topic lately because of his newly released album "The Life of Pablo" and his personal debt issues. And now, West's album is making the headlines as the most pirated content on torrent sites.

According to TorrentFreak, pirated copies of "The Life of Pablo" were made shortly after it was released. About 500,000 copies have already been downloaded, the report noted. The piracy comes after the artist announced that the album will never be for sale on Apple and will only be exclusive to Tidal, Jay-Z's streaming service, which requires subscription.

West's album is also the top most shared music content on Pirate Bay. The album has about 8,200 seeders at the time of writing, with Rihanna's "ANTI" in second place. Apart from Pirate Bay, "The Life of Pablo" is also popular on BitTorrent and Torrent Hound. TorrentFreak reported that the illegal downloads may have been the result of the album's limited availability.

It appears that West has set a record, but not in a good way. TorrentFreak founder, Ernesto Van Der Sar, told BBC News that "The Life of Pablo's" piracy numbers are "unusual."

"Generally we don't track music releases closely, so I'm not calling any records," Van Der Sar said. "However, I haven't seen numbers this high before for a music release - not with Adele either."

This only shows that West's album is highly anticipated, but due to its exclusivity, some people would just pirate the content, rather than sign up for Tidal. With this remarkable piracy numbers, the Recording Industry Association of America has stepped up to continue the fight against these torrent sites. Torrents of West's album that were uploaded on Monday were already removed, but it is expected that there will be replacements.

The 38-year-old rapper has yet to comment on this matter.
