Folks who plan to get hold of an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will now have more options through Apple's modified phone trade-in program.

Applicable to regions such as US, UK, Canada, France, Germany and Italy, Apple has unravelled a new phone trade-in program which will now include old Android and Blackberry handsets.

Known more as Apple's Reuse and Recycling Program, the modified scheme was something that was not formally announced. However if one checks some individual Apple Store pages, a line that states that consumers can get credit when they recycle 'select smartphones from another manufacturer' practically says it all.

With Apple reportedly gaining a bit of headway past rival Samsung in terms of worldwide smartphone sales in the fourth quarter of 2014, it looks like the company is aiming to build on that momentum and widen the gap.

Be guided as well that the trade-in program is not solely limited to handsets and tablets. It also includes personal computers. This means that people who have been planning to get a Mac can do so, getting a bit of a discount if they trade-in their old computer.

However, the main focus here seems to be the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With Apple's new handsets certainly heavy on the pocket, getting some price offs should help spur up sales.

A contract-free iPhone 6 is priced starting at $649 and incrementally increases from there. On the other hand, a contract-free iPhone 6 Plus is priced starting at $749.

Though the credit one could get from trading in a Samsung or Blackberry smartphone may not necessarily be as much as what old iPhone models would bring, the thing is you can now shift to Apple easily.
