Folks who have been relying on local carriers to get hold of an iPhone will be glad to note that SIM-free and unlocked iPhones are now within reach.

iPhone variants like the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and/or the iPhone 5S can now be purchased from the Apple Online store. The listing can be found here but covers only the U.S. region.

Now, since this will be an unlocked device, potential buyers will have to pay the full price. Prices start at $649 for the iPhone 6 while the iPhone 6S Plus (128 GB) retails for about $949.

Previously, buyers needed to choose a carrier to get one. Under the new scheme, however, they can buy the device outright and contract-free, which gives them the freedom to use it on any carrier that they prefer.

The iPhone makes use of a nano-SIM card, so depending on the carrier of your choice, it depends on whether you want to hook it up with either AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, or Sprint.

The only option this offer gives folks is that they can opt to get one and not worry about being tied up to a contract with carriers. The deal should also be great for people who want an authentic iPhone and use it freely wherever they may be, either via postpaid or maybe even prepaid.

The price could be a bit hefty, but the thing is, it gives you some savings as well as a free mind when it comes to contract commitments. The price does seem steep but if you do the math, you may be surprised at the savings you get and the freedom to choose which network you want to use it on, and at a cost that flexibly fits your budget.

So if you have been aching to get hold of perhaps the latest iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, this is perhaps a great deal to consider.
