Greg Laurie's Harvest festival to broadcast live to 1,000 churches

More than 1,000 churches and individuals across the US have signed up to host Greg Laurie's Harvest America live from Angel Stadium in Anaheim on 26 August.

According to a news release, with the help of online streaming and satellite broadcast, Greg Laurie's Harvest Crusades ministry will bring this one night event to America's hometowns, free of charge and open to all people.

"Host sites from California to the Carolinas are gearing up for the event by enlisting and preparing volunteers, securing venues including auditoriums, parks and theatres, and planning corresponding community outreach events such as carnivals and family fun days," said the release.

Several well-known participating churches include Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, James McDonald's Harvest Bible Chapel in Chicago, and Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale in Florida, led by Senior Pastor Bob Coy.

Harvest America is a model for mass evangelism in the 21st century, in which an event is produced in one location, replicated and broadcast live to host sites across the US.

Since crusades are held at local churches and venues, participants who accept Christ are already connected with a community for growth and encouragement, making this "crusade in a box" effective at nurturing and growing believers.

A ministry of California pastor Greg Laurie, Harvest Crusades holds annual stadium events designed to share the gospel in an environment that is contemporary and entertaining. Over the last 22 years, more than 4.4 million people have attended Harvest Crusades.

This year, Harvest Crusades will be held in Anaheim from 25 to 26 August and in Los Angeles from 8 to 9 September.
