Following the success of the first Global Day of Prayer event – which witnessed hundreds of millions of Christians praying in stadiums, churches, and homes around the world – organisers have announced a summit meeting that will be held in January 2006 to plan for a second massive prayer movement.

The "January Summit" is set to take place in North America and will be sponsored by the National Prayer Committee, and held at Canyon Ridge Christian Church in Las Vegas, Nevada from Jan. 27-28, 2006.

Its purpose is to plan for the second Global Day of Prayer (GDOP) event, which will bring together pastors, local prayer groups, marketplace leaders, leaders of networks, intercessors, and city-reachers on June 4, 2006.

According to reports, an estimated 10,000 locations from 156 nations registered for last year’s Global Day of Prayer event on May 15. Despite the lack of extensive marketing, the movement nonetheless achieved success in 2005. Participants at each GDOP event last year prayed for God's mercy and forgiveness, repenting of sins and calling on the power of the Holy Spirit to dawn on this globe in a transformation and spiritual awakening.

"Every indication points to the most remarkable movement in the history of the Church," stated the news release from GDOP. "Perhaps it is the beginning of the last great move of God before the return of Christ."

The upcoming Jan. 27-28 weekend will be full of stories from around the globe, promotional materials, new prayer guides, CDs, DVDs, review strategies, testimonies, breakout sessions, and lessons learned in 2005 to help attendants prepare for the second event.

Attendants will learn strategies to mobilise their communities, receive funding, and broadcast on TV, radio, and Internet. Other resources such as the Purpose Driven P.E.A.C.E. Plan will be explained.

The summit will begin at on Friday morning and will last for half a day on Saturday.
