A 70-year-old man is due to appear in court on Thursday charged with the murder of a teenage girl 46 years ago.

LONDON - A 70-year-old man is due to appear in court on Thursday charged with the murder of a teenage girl 46 years ago.

Jacqueline Thomas, 15, was found dead on allotments in Bordesley Green, Birmingham, in August 1961.

She is believed to have been sexually assaulted and strangled.

The man, who has not been named, is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court.

The arrest comes after a review of the case by detectives.
