A memorial service will be held today in celebration of the life of children's TV presenter Mark Speight.

The service will take place at the so-called "actors church", The Parish Church of St Paul in Covent Garden, central London.

The service also marks the launch of a new foundation being set up by Speight's father as an enduring tribute to his son's artistic talents.

SP8 of the Art - the Mark Speight Foundation will develop the artistic talents of children up to the age of 18.

Speight, long-time presenter of BBC children's art show, SMart, hanged himself in Paddington railway station in April. He had been struggling to come to terms with the death of his fiancée actress Natasha Collins, who was found dead at their London flat of a suspected drug overdose in January.
