Crime and violence have become a cause of increasing concern in many areas of London, but in Haringey Christians have grown so worried by the steep rise in crimes and morale decline in the area that they have organised a huge prayer gathering for the community.

A week of prayer has now been scheduled to begin on 25th June, and will end with a Weekend Prayer Conference, which will be officially opened by the Mayor of Haringey.

The theme of the prayer event has been decided as ‘Reclaiming Our Community Through Prayer’.

Throughout the Week of Prayer, the initiative will be taken out to key local community areas, with prayers said in all five police stations in Haringey, North Middlesex Hospital, two residential homes, local estates and homes.

In addition, there will be a Bible Reading Marathon and a prayer chain, where volunteers will dedicate themselves to praying on the hour, relaying with others every hour, starting from 6am Sunday 25 June, and ending 6pm on Sunday 2 July.

Special guests to the Weekend Prayer Conference include Pastor Humphrey Walters, SEC President; Councillors Adamou and Haley; Pastor Michael Hamilton, SEC Ministerial Director and Tim Rawe (Pray Haringey).

The Weekend Prayer Conference will be held at Tottenham SDA Church, 255 West Green Road, N15 on Friday 30th June and Sunday, 2nd July, at 7.15pm and 10.00am, respectively.

On Saturday, 1st July it will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Whites Suite with three sessions from 9.30am – 1.00pm, 3.30pm – 5.00pm and 5.30pm – 9.30pm.
